Organizations representing the homecare industry and the political establishment have shown interest in the issue of home oxygen fires, with briefings with AAHomecare and a group of influential Republican Governors.
A series of meetings with key stakeholders have helped broaden understanding and awareness of the issue of home oxygen fires and the potential solutions.
Members of AAHomecare’s Thermal Fuse Work Group – all representing home oxygen installers and suppliers – heard from Ray Reynolds in July about the strategy to secure reimbursement for bidirectional thermal fuses at Federal and state level.
The group emphasized that they were keen for home oxygen installers to be ‘part of the solution’.
Meanwhile, a chance meeting with Stephanie Groen, policy advisor for the Republican Governors Public Policy Committee (RGPPC) and HOT Working Group co-chair Ray Reynolds, led to her making this important group of politicians aware of the issue, encouraging them to discuss Medicaid reimbursement with their state Departments of Health and Human Services.
