Arizona event unites fire safety leads behind cause

A key date in the fire safety calendar is the International Association of Fire Chief’s (IAFC) annual Community Risk Reduction Leadership Conference, which focuses on education and training for chief officers and other fire service managers. The HOT Fire Working Group was there to seek support from this important group.

Held in Arizona in May, the IAFC’s CRR Leadership Conference brings together senior fire safety professionals seeking to create, execute and evaluate measurably successful CRR platforms and programs. Naturally, the event is a key opportunity to raise awareness of the issue of home oxygen fires and to generate support from CRR leads across the States.

HOT Fire Working Group co-chair Chief Ray Reynolds met delegates and presented the progress being made to reduce the impact of home oxygen fires, sharing insights into how to raise awareness of the issue among Health and Human Services departments, who are responsible for state Medicaid reimbursement. Delegates were also invited to sign a pledge committing to improving home oxygen fire safety.
